The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot vacuum can clean and vacuum your floors without your involvement. It will also leave the floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.
Make sure to check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models can also self-empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in a larger bin at the bottom. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other top iRobot models (including the top choice), they use smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.
It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. It's also extremely quiet and works when you're at work or in school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be swapped for a wet one in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. have a peek here and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.
This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a carpeted area to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to clean an entire home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the competition. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or at night as you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and a little more cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, as well as washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to how dirty they are.
If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Also, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would expect from its price tag. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to set up an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app offers a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we have test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
